Abba, Father
We cry out
Abba, Father
The One who knew us before
we knew ourselves
Watched in awe as we took
our first breath
Filled with power and strength,
yet gentle in His touch
He has always been there.
Abba, Father
Held our hands when we took
first steps,
babes
Bold and brave
He kept leading us forward,
and we never stopped
needing His hand.
Abba, Father
Wrapped us warmly in His arms
when we stumbled and fell
We leant on shoulders of
Strength.
Our rock
For there is no other.
Abba, Father
We whisper deepest secrets
To ears
Always ready to hear
Wanting to listen to
Every single little part
Held safely in His heart.
Abba, Father
The Mouth that speaks wisdom
When we tried to rule ourselves
Act as our own, now that
we're grown
Yet His voice holds power
And it's leading us home.
Abba, Father
The One we can never repay
Never say thank you enough
Never give enough
For the life He gave for us.
Abba, Father
The One who turns sons
In to fathers
And fills them with His
spirit
To watch over us here on earth
Because we needed them the most,
Our fathers.
