Author Faith Olajuyigbe

Faith is a Birmingham based poet and dramatist who also enjoys writing faith-fuelled articles in her free time. In 2019, she successfully self-published her debut poetry book Words of Faith which achieved Amazon Best Seller status within the first week of publication. The collection debuted at number three in the Christian Poetry category as well as reaching the Top Ten status in the Inspirational and Religious Poetry category amongst the likes of John Milton and Rupi Kaur.

Her simple yet skilful approach to language and imagery is used to take readers on a stimulating visual journey initiated by words. Through poetry, she explores themes such as love, life, faith, passion and purpose. A true creative at heart, Faith has a background in theatre and readily enjoys performing her poems for audiences. Outside of literature, she is interested in film, videography and photography.

How old are you?

I was born in '97.


Where are you based?

I am based in the UK, specifically London and Birmingham.


How long have you been writing?

I've been writing things for as long as I can remember. Since the age of about 7.


When did you start writing poetry?

I got into poetry in my second year of University, aged 19/20.

Who inspires you when it comes to writing and why?

Shakespeare. The poetry, the plays. One day I aspire to be as (if not more) prolific as he was.


What are your favourite books?

Besides the cliché Christian answer... I really enjoy The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and Love's Labour's Lost by Shakespeare.

Do you perform poetry?

Yes! I love acting and/or performing my own poems.


Do you write anything other than poetry?

I enjoy writing plays - screen, radio and stage. I write articles on my blog and also professional copy.


What's a random fact about you?

I'm double jointed in my left thumb.


What are some inspirational quotes you live by?

"Be still and know that I am God" (Psalm 46:10) because it keeps me calm to know that God is in control.

"He makes all things beautiful in His time" (Ecclesiastes 3:11) because it keeps me patient with myself and my process.

"This life I can't kill myself o" because I really can't.


How do your friends describe you?

"Serene, level-headed, artsy, calm and collected, you go with the flow."
